STYLED BIRTHDAY EDITORIAL SHOOT FOR ONE

The summer went out in a big epic glitter bomb of styled eye candy. The vibe was some good old fashion birthday festivities poolside, to celebrate being young and free. Rylee Hatch, our SWEET model for the day was no doubt the cherry on top of this project. She came 100% prepared to give me what I described for this Birthday girl character and then some. I’ve never been so impressed in all my years of shooting, she is just sooo dang good! It was so fitting that this was not just a fun colabo but also her last night in California before heading to Utah for her first year of college life. It was truly something to celebrate.

We thrifted for several of the garments, hand painted the canvas backdrop, borrowed an inflatable flamingo (duh), hunted for the perfect pool location, wrangled in local baked pastries for props and were seriously thrilled to have on board Katie Sanchez for hair design! Oh my God, Katie Sanchez (faint)! She is the owner of Zimbali Salon and spa in Granite bay and is a complete BOSS. She raised the bar by creating 4 different hair looks to pair with Rylees wardrobe and as if that weren’t enough she jumped in several times just to do what needed to be done outside of the hair department. Such a pro. Surprisingly I stared the makeup artist roll square in the face and handled some biz last minute and thank goodness we all lived to tell the tale. Both Rylee and Katie are incredible team players who bring with them professionalism and a truly positive vibe. It is collaborations like this with people like this that keep me growing and connected to photography. For this alone… I will forever be grateful.
